Book Review: Brand Momentum

Synopsis

Business and marketing experts agree that growth comes from acquiring more customers. Yet, in an era of performance marketing obsession, many brands have lost sight of the art of long-term brand building.

Brand Momentum presents a new scientific and transformative growth system that harnesses the principles of physics to create a force more important than sales or profits: momentum. Tony Lewis uses decades of marketing experience, case studies and ground-breaking new research to unlock the secrets to achieving brand momentum. This accessible, evidence-based book introduces the Brand Velocity Score, the metric that tracks customers’ perceptions of a brand’s trajectory – vital for growth and ultimate success.

Review

A short book, Brand Momentum looks at the science behind branding, and how we as marketers can improve our ROI, increase customer value and retention.

It’s an interesting overview, and reads a lot better than many business books, laying everything out in simple terms in a personable way, with plenty of case study examples.

I found the Brand Velocity Score (BVS) a very interesting approach, which I may use in future. Overall however, I would have liked more concrete examples and ways to improve brand momentum within a business.

Worth a read, but not enough substance, although I feel future editions of the book will provide more and more detail.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Thanks to Literally PR for my copy. Opinions my own.
